"Guten Tag" Color Reduction Relief Print Original, Limited Edition
Orangutans have been a favorite animal of my mothers for as long as I can remember. The fact that their rainforest is being destroyed at such an exponential rate made me want to depict their friendly faces to bring some love and attention, therefore, Hello. Guten Tag is part of my animal color reduction study where I wanted to depict animals that I have a love for in a graphic color-blocked manner. Part of my study was color, using primarily either warm or cool tones to create the images. I made this series by carving away a block after printing each layer, printing 6 layers in total, each adding more depth to the image.
Crafted from carving into Gomubon. Printed using color-rich plant-based relief ink, gauges, and Reeves BFK relief print paper. This series was produced using a hand-operated Etching Press.
